We are seeking a candidate to act as the organisational lead for data protection, information governance and GDPR compliance.

Job Role

This role ensures that personal data processed by the TEC service, including Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) call recordings, device data, digital platforms and workforce systems—is used lawfully, securely and transparently. The postholder provides expert guidance, manages GDPR risks and ensures regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Data Protection & GDPR

  • Act as Data Protection Officer
  • Maintain the organisation’s Data Protection Framework.
  • Lead compliance with GDPR, Data Protection Act, PECR and ICO requirements.
  • Manage the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA), retention schedules and data flows.

Information Governance

  • Lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for TEC devices, ARC platforms, apps and cloud systems.
  • Oversee data processing agreements and supplier compliance audits.
  • Manage data breach investigations and reportable incidents.

Operational Support

  • Provide expert advice to operational teams and project leads.
  • Support procurement, contract review sand new service implementations.
  • Ensure secure data handling in the ARC and across 17 sites.

SARs & Rights Requests

  • Manage Subject Access Requests (SARs), erasure/rectification requests and FOI enquiries.
  • Ensure statutory deadlines and quality requirements are met.

Training & Culture

  • Deliver IG and data protection training to all staff.
  • Promote a culture of confidentiality, security and responsible data usage.
What You Bring

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in Data Protection, e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, BCS Data Protection, or equivalent - essential.
  • Degree in relevant area (Law, IG, ICT, Governance, Public Sector) - desirable.
  • Additional training in information security - desirable.

Experience

  • Practical experience managing data protection/GDPR compliance in a complex organisation.
  • Experience completing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
  • Experience working with digital systems, cloud solutions, or technology enabled services.
  • Experience handling data breaches, investigations and ICO relevant processes.
  • Experience managing SARs and other data subject rights requests.
  • Experience working with suppliers, processors and technical teams.
  • Experience in regulated settings (health, social care, public sector, TEC, emergency services) - desirable.

What can we offer you?

  • £35,000 - £42,000 FTE per annum depending on experience
  • We offer flexible part‑time hours between 08:30 and 17:00, Monday to Friday - full‑time applications are also welcome.
