Safeguarding Policy

1. Our Commitment

At Livity Life, safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable adults and individuals who may be at risk is at the heart of what we do. We are committed to ensuring that everyone we work with, especially service users who may rely on our technology and services, is protected from abuse, harm, neglect, and exploitation.

This policy outlines our approach to safeguarding and sets out how we identify, prevent, and respond to concerns.

2. Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to:

  • All Livity Life employees, engineers, and customer support staff
  • Contractors and subcontractors representing Livity Life
  • Volunteers, consultants, and temporary workers
  • Any individual or organisation working on behalf of Livity Life

3. Definition of Safeguarding

Safeguarding means protecting an individual’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. Under the Care Act 2014, this includes:

  • Preventing harm or abuse from happening
  • Responding quickly and effectively to concerns
  • Promoting wellbeing and dignity

4. Who We Safeguard

We primarily support and protect:

  • Vulnerable adults who use our care technology
  • Individuals who may be elderly, disabled, or living with health conditions
  • Residents in supported housing or assisted living environments

5. Types of Abuse We Look Out For

We are alert to a range of abuse types, including:

  • Physical abuse
  • Emotional or psychological abuse
  • Financial or material abuse
  • Neglect and acts of omission
  • Sexual abuse
  • Self-neglect
  • Domestic abuse
  • Discriminatory abuse
  • Modern slavery

6. Our Responsibilities

Livity Life is committed to:

  • Promoting a culture of zero tolerance toward abuse
  • Ensuring staff receive safeguarding training
  • Having a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Recording and reporting safeguarding concerns promptly
  • Working with local authorities and safeguarding boards where appropriate

7. How to Report a Concern

If you are concerned about the safety of someone supported by Livity Life or a safeguarding issue involving one of our staff:

  • If someone is in immediate danger:

    Please call 999 or contact your local authority's emergency safeguarding team.

All concerns are taken seriously and will be handled confidentially and sensitively.

8. Training and Monitoring

All relevant staff:

  • Receive safeguarding induction training
  • Undertake regular refresher training
  • Are required to follow our Safeguarding Procedures and Code of Conduct

We regularly review this policy and our safeguarding practices in line with changes to legislation and sector guidance.

9. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed annually or following any serious incident or change in safeguarding law.
