A Fantastic Day at the Essex TEC Showcase
On the 1st July 2026, Livity Life, with partners Essex County Council and Provide Carecall247, hosted the Essex TEC Showcase: Five Years On – Shaping the Future of TEC Together at Chelmsford City Racecourse, celebrating the progress of one of the country’s most forward-thinking technology-enabled care (TEC) partnerships. The event brought together sector leaders, suppliers and people with lived experience to explore how TEC is helping people live more safely, independently and confidently at home.

The event celebrated five years of innovation and collaboration between Livity and Provide in Essex and was a great opportunity to look ahead to the future of TEC.

Hosted alongside Essex County Council and Provide Carecall247, the day highlighted how strong partnership working has helped reshape the way care and support are delivered across the county. From prevention and early intervention to better use of data and insight, the event focused on what matters most: improving outcomes for residents, families and professionals.

Alongside a packed programme of presentations and panel discussions, attendees had the opportunity to meet a wide range of innovative technology-enabled care suppliers and partners exhibiting throughout the day.

The showcase provided a valuable space to explore the latest innovations, share best practice and discuss the future of TEC across health and social care.

Livity's Clinical and Governance Director Deb Knowles said:
"The event reinforced that good governance is about enabling innovation, not constraining it. As an OT, I was particularly encouraged by seeing how non-traditional technologies and cross-sector collaboration can expand the reach and impact of TEC."
Sessions throughout the event highlighted the many ways technology is transforming care, from turning TEC insight into proactive, preventative intervention and enhancing dementia support with wearable technology, to exploring the role of voice technology and inclusive communication in improving accessibility and outcomes.
The success of Care TEC in Essex hasn’t been about one organisation working alone—it’s been built through true partnership between Essex County Council, Provide, Livity, and a fantastic network of TEC suppliers. Together, we’ve brought innovation, operational expertise and a shared commitment to doing things differently.
Over the past few years, we’ve helped reshape how social care is delivered—moving beyond traditional models of equipment and response services, towards prevention, early intervention, independence and better use of data. Technology has the greatest impact when it’s fully integrated into how people are supported to live safely and independently—not treated as an add-on.
This partnership is showing what’s possible:
✔ Supporting people earlier and preventing escalation
✔ Reducing pressure on public services
✔ Giving families greater confidence
✔ Enabling professionals with better tools and insight
Behind all of this are real outcomes for residents—more people able to stay at home, more reassurance for families, and better-targeted support across the system.

The event featured a packed agenda of talks, an innovation zone, partner and supplier stands and great opportunities to showcase the work happening across Essex and beyond. Essex Police led an important talk on 'Keeping TEC Safe: Cyber Security Essentials' and the Fire Service brought their vital knowledge to 'Connected Care, Safer Homes: Fire Safety Meets Technology'.
At 12:00pm, our panel discussion, 'Beyond the Hype: Real Stories in Technology-Enabled Care,' brought together Head of TEC Transformation James Lampert and Lived Experience Ambassador Lee Mercer for an insightful conversation about the real value of TEC.

Lee shared his lived experience, helping to ground the discussion in what technology-enabled care means for people in everyday life. The panel explored how TEC can support independence, provide reassurance for families and help people remain safely at home for longer.
The conversation was a powerful reminder that technology has the greatest impact when it is fully integrated into people’s care and support — not treated as an add-on, but as part of a more proactive, preventative approach.
The Essex event demonstrated how collaboration, innovation and lived experience are helping to shape more personalised, preventative and connected care services. By bringing together commissioners, providers, suppliers, frontline professionals and residents, the Essex TEC Showcase highlighted what's possible when technology is embedded into the wider care ecosystem and focused on delivering real outcomes for people.

Ross Chipperfield, Strategic and Partnership Contract Manager said,
'The Essex TEC Showcase was a fantastic success and a real demonstration of what can be achieved when suppliers, partners and prescribers come together with a shared purpose. It was inspiring to see so many people making the most of the day, sharing ideas, building new connections, and showcasing innovative solutions that help make our TEC service in Essex what it is today. The collaboration, enthusiasm and commitment on display highlighted the strength of our partnership approach and the positive impact we can achieve together for the people we support.'
